In the 80s and 90s the Mega Church was on the rise and quickly became the center of Christian life for many in the United States. In recent years, however, these congregations are shrinking. Whether through Covid, tumultuous leadership transitions, or other causes, the Mega Churches that once ruled the Christian landscape are fewer and farther between than they used to be. You know the feeling: your neighbor walks in your front door and you immediately feel that turning in your stomach. “Are they going to notice this ugly paint color? It’s Pride Month and across the United States communities are gathering to celebrate the LGBTQIA+ community with parades, festivals, and more. This week we found an opinion piece that asked the question, “Do pro-gay Christian groups belong at pride?” Its a question that made us think more deeply about the role of Christians and allies at Pride festivals, and we hope it will do the same for you.
